Just preparing to take the bar on February 23 and 24. That means I'm studying most of the day, then going to class from 6:00p to 10:00p every night except Sundays. The theory is that, once I've completed the bar, I will have more time for... well... anything. d^_^b
See you on the other side!
...to stop blogging, apparently. Sorry about that. So in lieu of meaty intellectual content, have a pair of pictures. They're worth a thousand words--apiece!--or so I have been led to believe. And while I recognize that two thousand words is nowhere near my usual rambling verbosity (can you believe spell-check lets me get away with that one?)... well, it's going to have to do. d^_~b
I haven't had any spam in a long while. Apparently it is because my spam filter was broken and forbidding any new comments from anyone. You people need to tell me when things are broken, I just assumed you didn't love me anymore.
...hello? Is anyone there? Hello? d^_~b
Anyway, it should be fixed now. Hopefully this means the return of valuable comments, and not just the return of the bots.
Pretty soon, Aprilynne's official website will need to be updated. Never one to take the easy road, I've been contemplating a site overhaul. So yesterday evening I was browsing the websites of various young adult authors, with an eye toward any conventions in content or layout that I should keep in mind. I happened across the site of Justine Larbalestier, who had recently penned this fascinating entry on double standards in the perception of male versus female protagonists. It sucked me right in!
Just look at that "Media Consumption" sidebar over there, under "Anxiously Anticipating." Embarrassing. It's longer than the entry summaries! Or, it was until I kicked the frontpage postcount to 10 to cover my shame...
How can one man be expected to enjoy so many games?
Well, I guess I'll just have to do my best. d^_^b
A while back, an old friend of mine called to say that his brother's baby had been born. I responded, reflexively, "Oh yeah, I saw that on Facebook!"
I was immediately angry with myself. Some of you will remember that I tried Facebook out several months ago in order to contact an old friend from high school, a pursuit I felt justified a discrete sip of the social networking kool-aid. So when did "getting in touch" become "no need to get in touch?"
Well, while I'm not a huge fan of blog memes, every once in a while I do get caught up in a particularly interesting quiz or survey or what have you. And Chelsea sent me a snail-mail Christmas card this year, so when she tagged me I figured, hey, I can indulge that. Don't worry though, I won't tag anyone else. I don't mind being "it" for eternity, I'll take one for the collective blogging team. d^_^b
I apologize in advance to my registered users, who will have to re-register. :-( But please, leave a comment and let me know what you think of my new site!
That said: what's this? Playing with websites? It must be summer!
Okay, so it's not quite summer. Next week I have to do the write-on competition for the law review, and I still need to turn in one last paper. But yes, when I have time, I like to update my site.
